Legal Information, Disclaimer, and Terms of Service

One True Love and Light Legal Information, Terms of Use & Privacy Policy

By initiating a telephone call to or sending a text message to the National Prayer Phone Line, or by otherwise volunteering for, participating in, or utilizing any events or services provided by One True Love and Light, you hereby acknowledge and agree to be legally bound by the following terms and conditions. 


1. Organizational Status

One True Love and Light (“the organization”) is a Canadian non-profit organization headquartered in the Province of Ontario, Canada, operating on a national basis.

The Organization has formally initiated the application process for registration as a charitable organization with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). Legal counsel has advised that, subject to approval, charitable donation receipts may be issued retroactively to the date of application commencement (April 2026), with official tax receipts to be issued in the taxation year in which charitable status is granted by the Government of Canada.


Until such approval is granted, the Organization operates as a non-profit entity in accordance with applicable federal and provincial legislation.


2. Scope of Services

One True Love and Light provides faith-based, non-denominational spiritual support services, including but not limited to:

  • A nationally accessible anonymous prayer phone service
  • Worship gatherings and outreach events
  • Testimony sharing and community-based spiritual engagement
  • General emotional and spiritual encouragement


Services are delivered by trained volunteers and/or representatives grounded in relationship with Jesus through the reading of Scripture, understanding of faith-based principles, displaying of compassion/empathy, and lived experience.


At this time, the organization does not directly provide clinical mental health or addiction treatment services but may offer referrals to established community supports in the form of contact information provided about established services where appropriate.


3. Nature of Services – No Clinical Relationship

All services provided by the organization are purely spiritual and support-based in nature and do not constitute:

  • Formal Advice, whether medical, legal, or other
  • Psychiatric or psychological assessment
  • Diagnosis or treatment
  • Psychotherapy or counselling within the meaning of regulated health professions legislation


Engagement with the organization does not create a clinician-patient, therapist-client, or fiduciary healthcare relationship.


Participants are strongly encouraged to seek guidance from qualified and licensed healthcare professionals for any medical, psychological, or psychiatric concerns.


4. National Anonymous Prayer Line

The organization operates a Canada-wide anonymous prayer line intended to provide:

  • Spiritual encouragement
  • Compassionate listening
  • Prayer-based support


4.1 Voluntary and Faith-Based Nature

Use of the prayer line is entirely voluntary and is grounded in spiritual care principles. It is not a substitute for professional healthcare or crisis intervention services.


4.2 Anonymity and User Discretion

While the service is intended to be anonymous, certain technical data (such as caller ID, basic call information, or telecommunications metadata) may be accessible to the organization. Users are advised to exercise discretion when disclosing personal information.


4.3 No Emergency Services

The prayer line is not monitored as an emergency response service. Individuals experiencing immediate danger, suicidal ideation, or crisis situations must contact:

  • 911 (or local emergency services)
  • 988 National Crisis Response Line
  • 1-800-668-6868 (Kid's Help Phone)
  • A hospital emergency department
  • A certified crisis hotline


5. Duty of Care and Mandatory Reporting

While the organization is not a clinical provider, it recognizes a duty of care in accordance with applicable Canadian laws.


The organization reserves the right to disclose available information to appropriate authorities, without consent, where required or permitted by law, including but not limited to situations involving:

  • A real risk of serious bodily harm to the individual or others
  • Suspected current/future abuse or neglect (including minors or vulnerable persons)
  • Court orders, subpoenas, or other lawful demands

Such disclosures may include any identifying information available to the organization, including caller ID data and voluntarily provided information.


6. Referrals to External Supports

Where needs exceed the scope of spiritual or peer-based support, the Organization may provide referrals to:

  • Licensed healthcare providers
  • Addiction services
  • Crisis intervention resources
  • Community and social service organizations

The organization does not guarantee the availability, reliability, accuracy, or outcomes of any resources provided or third-party services.


7. Public Events, Media Recording, and Event Participation

In addition to spiritual support services, One True Love and Light may organize, host, sponsor, livestream, record, or facilitate public community events & worship gatherings, musical performances, community outreach events, family-oriented entertainment, festivals, conferences, educational activities, and similar events (collectively, “Events”).


7.1 Voluntary Participation and Assumption of Risk

Attendance at and participation in Events is entirely voluntary.


Participants acknowledge that attendance at public gatherings may involve inherent risks, including but not limited to:

  • Accidental injury;
  • Exposure to communicable illnesses;
  • Weather-related hazards;
  • Crowd-related incidents;
  • Travel-related risks; and
  • Other risks commonly associated with public events.

By attending an Event, participants voluntarily assume all risks associated with attendance and participation and agree that One True Love and Light shall not be liable for injuries, losses, damages, or expenses arising from such participation, except where liability cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.


7.2 Photography, Videography, Audio Recording and Livestreaming

Events may be photographed, filmed, livestreamed, recorded, or otherwise documented by One True Love and Light or its authorized representatives.


By entering any Event venue or participating in an Event, attendees acknowledge and agree that their image, likeness, voice, appearance, statements, performance, and participation may be captured and recorded.


Attendees grant One True Love and Light a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable right and license to use, reproduce, publish, distribute, display, modify, edit, transmit, livestream, archive, promote, and otherwise use such recordings and materials, in whole or in part, in any media now known or later developed, including but not limited to:

  • Websites;
  • Social media platforms;
  • Promotional materials;
  • Broadcasts;
  • Streaming services;
  • Printed publications;
  • Fundraising campaigns; and
  • Documentary, educational, or ministry-related productions.

No compensation shall be owed to attendees for such use unless otherwise agreed in writing.


7.3 Minors

Parents, guardians, or individuals responsible for minors attending Events acknowledge that Event photography, videography, livestreaming, and recording may occur in public areas.

Where required by applicable law, the organization shall obtain additional parental or guardian consent before featuring identifiable minors in promotional or commercial materials.


7.4 Performer and Speaker Recordings

Any individual who performs music, speaks publicly, gives testimony, participates in interviews, or otherwise contributes content at an Event grants One True Love and Light permission to record, reproduce, edit, distribute, publish, broadcast, stream, archive, and otherwise use such content for ministry, educational, promotional, fundraising, documentary, and commercial purposes.

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, performers, speakers, musicians, and presenters waive any claim to compensation, royalties, residuals, licensing fees, or approval rights relating to such recordings and productions.


The organization reserves the right, but not the obligation, to use, reproduce, edit, modify, publish, distribute, broadcast, stream, or otherwise exploit recorded content. In circumstances where the organization receives substantial financial benefit from the commercial use of recorded performances or contributions, the organization may, at its discretion or pursuant to a separate written agreement, provide reasonable compensation, honoraria, royalties, or other forms of remuneration to featured contributors. 


7.5 Event Conduct and Removal

The organization reserves the right to deny admission to, or remove from, any Event any individual whose conduct is disruptive, unsafe, unlawful, threatening, abusive, intoxicated, or inconsistent with the organization's mission, values, or safety requirements.

Participants removed from an Event may be prohibited from attending future Events.


7.6 Third-Party Vendors and Service Providers

Events may include food vendors, food trucks, merchandise vendors, entertainers, exhibitors, contractors, sponsors, or other third-party service providers.

Such third parties operate independently of One True Love and Light.


The organization does not warrant or guarantee the products, services, food quality, food safety, pricing, representations, or conduct of any third-party vendor and shall not be liable for any loss, injury, illness, allergic reaction, property damage, transaction dispute, or other claim arising from interactions with third-party providers.


7.7 Event Changes and Cancellation

The organization reserves the right to modify, postpone, relocate, suspend, or cancel any Event at any time due to weather, safety concerns, operational requirements, governmental restrictions, emergencies, insufficient attendance, or circumstances beyond its reasonable control.


The organization shall not be liable for travel costs, accommodations, lost opportunities, or other expenses incurred by participants arising from Event changes or cancellations.


8. Privacy, Data Collection & Compliance

One True Love and Light is committed to protecting personal information in accordance with applicable privacy legislation, including:

  • Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA)
  • Provincial privacy laws, including Québec’s Law 25 where applicable
  • Personal (Health) Information Protection Act (PIPA/PHIPA) (as applicable across jurisdictions)


9. Collection of Personal Information

The organization collects only information reasonably necessary to:

  • Provide services
  • Respond to inquiries
  • Maintain internal records
  • Ensure safety and legal compliance


This may include:

  • Name (if voluntarily provided)
  • Phone number (including caller ID)
  • Email address (if voluntarily provided)
  • Limited notes from interactions (where appropriate)


10. Use of Information

Personal information is used strictly for:

  • Delivering services
  • Internal documentation and quality assurance
  • Risk management and safety response
  • Regulatory compliance

The organization does not sell, rent, or trade personal information.


11. Data Storage and Processing

It is understood that reasonable attempts are made to ensure that all data is securely stored on Canadian-based servers within cloud infrastructure, with industry-standard safeguards including:

  • Encryption
  • Access controls
  • Secure authentication protocols

We understand that our providers of Customer relationship management (CRM,) donor management services, and online storage maintain this compliance. 


12. Data Retention

Personal information is retained only for as long as necessary to fulfill its intended purpose, including:

  • Legal and regulatory requirements
  • Risk management and documentation
  • Operational needs

Data is securely deleted or anonymized when no longer required.


13. User Rights

Subject to legal limitations, individuals have the right to:

  • Access their personal information
  • Request corrections
  • Withdraw consent to data use

14. Safeguards

The organization employs administrative, physical, and technical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information.


15. Confidentiality

All interactions are treated with a high degree of confidentiality. However, confidentiality is not absolute and may be limited by:

  • Legal obligations
  • Risk of harm
  • Technical limitations of      telecommunications systems

Volunteers and staff are trained to document only relevant and necessary information.


16. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, One True Love and Light, including its directors, officers, volunteers, and agents, shall not be liable for:

  • Any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
  • Decisions made based on participation in services
  • Outcomes related to prayer, spiritual guidance, or peer support

All services are provided on an “as-is” and “as-available” basis without warranties of any kind.

Participation is entirely at the user’s own risk and discretion.


17. Indemnification

By using the organization’s services, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless One True Love and Light and its representatives from any claims, damages, liabilities, or expenses arising from:

  • Your use of the services
  • Your violation of these terms
  • Your infringement of any rights of a third party
  • Any expected or perceived outcomes as a result of using these services


18. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is determined by a court or other competent authority to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, that provision shall be severed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.


19. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with:

  • The laws of the Province of British Columbia & Ontario
  • The federal laws of Canada applicable therein

Any disputes arising from these Terms or the use of services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of British Columbia or Ontario.


20. Modifications

The organization reserves the right to amend this Legal Information, Terms of Use & Privacy Policy at any time. Updates will be posted on the official website with a revised “Last Updated” date.


Continued use of services constitutes acceptance of any modifications.
