The Good News

The Gospel message is the good news of what God has done through Jesus Christ to reconcile humanity with Our Father in Heaven. At its core, there are three inseparable realities that shape the Christian life: Christ's death, His Resurrection, and the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit as He sanctifies those who believe, filling them with immense joy and unshakeable peace beyond comprehension.

Why The Gospel Matters

God is Holy and the source of all life. Humanity was created in His image, but has fallen into sin, a condition that not only represents wrongdoing but also separates us from God, whether through willful actions or ignorance. This separation affects our very nature, desires, and actions, making it essential to embrace the Christian life and the transformative power of the Holy Spirit as we seek to understand the Gospel message.

Christ's Death

In the depth of His Love, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ of Nazareth to Earth. Jesus was fully God, yet fully human. He was sent to take on the weight of our sin and accomplish what we could never do.

Jesus was like us in every way, yet He lived a perfectly righteous life, resisting temptation completely and fulfilling God's law without sin.

He willingly endured an excruciating death by crucifixion on a cross as a purposeful sacrifice that covers all of humanity! Through His death, the barrier between God and humanity was removed for all those who trust in Him, empowered by the Holy Spirit.

The Most Important Part

Three days after His crucifixion, Jesus rose from the dead! This event isn't just a moment of coming back to life; it signifies the ultimate victory over death, a cornerstone of the Christian life. The resurrection of Jesus confirms and completes His saving work, which is central to the Gospel message. Without His return to life, there is no triumph over death.

Justification

The moment someone believes in their heart that Jesus was raised from the dead and declares with their mouth that "Jesus is Lord" they are justified before God and receive salvation.

All sin and harm is forgiven, the righteousness of Christ is credited to them, and they are declared right with God, not based on their works or good deeds, but through faith in Christ's finished works. This is the Gift of Grace, empowered by the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit (God With Us)

After His resurrection and ascension, Christ sent the Holy Spirit to dwell within those who believe. The Christian life isn't lived by human willpower. Instead, the Holy Spirit, through small intentional steps of obedience, does all the work to help us live out the Gospel message, draw us to Christ-like living, give us new life, and empower us to become more like Jesus, aligning with the will of the Father in Heaven.

Immense revelation of the Holy Spirit comes through Baptism, an intentional public declaration of your faith in Jesus that involves submersing yourself in water and being raised to life!

Sanctification

Sanctification is the ongoing process by which believers in the Christian life are transformed to become more like Jesus. There is no uniform timeline of sanctification, and we should always be gentle with one another.

As long as someone declares with their mouth that Jesus is Lord, we extend the trust that God is actively working in their heart.

The Holy Spirit works within us to change our desires, shape our character, help us put sin to death, and produce Spiritual Fruit such as love, joy, peace, patience, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Abiding in Christ

Jesus describes the Christian life as abiding in Him, similar to how branches are connected to a vine. To abide in Christ means to remain rooted in His Word, fully trust in Him, and recognize our dependence on the Holy Spirit while living in loving obedience. We don’t produce spiritual growth on our own; instead, we flourish in our Christian life as we stay connected to Christ, allowing His life to flow through us.

The Hope of Glory

The Gospel message doesn't end with personal transformation in this life; it points toward a future hope for the Christian life:

- The full restoration of creation

- The resurrection of our bodies

AND

- Abundant, Eternal Life in the presence of God

What began with Christ's resurrection will culminate in the complete renewal of all things!

A Prayer of Repentance

If what you've just read has you thinking "I might like to know Jesus..." please, join us in praying the following aloud.

"Father, I confess that I am a sinner, broken and defeated. I recognize and believe that You sent Your Son, Holy and Blameless, to die on a cross in our place so that we can be reconciled to You. I declare that Jesus Christ of Nazareth is the Lord over my life, and I ask the Holy Spirit into my heart and mind to help me draw near to You. I pray that you provide me the abundant joy, and everlasting, unshakeable peace that comes from knowing Your Son.

In the Mighty Name of Jesus, Amen."

In conclusion, we pray a blessing over you. We pray for a softness of heart, grace, and peace that knows no bounds. We pray for immense revelation of the God who created the Heavens and the Earth through the Gospel message, and throughout the world around you in new and exciting ways that cultivate deeper understanding and encourage growth in relationship with Him. May this keep you drawing near to the Lord with child-like wonder and awe for the rest of your days in this life and the next.

In Jesus Name, Amen.
